Waivers

Below are the states that offer waivers allowing children with autism to receive care at home. Note that this is not the same as being a paid caregiver. These waivers disregard a parent’s income when determining a child’s eligibility, and they provide in-home services for the child. Programs vary by state and may be offered through Medicaid, Katie Beckett, or Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) waivers. The goal is to help children feel more comfortable by receiving care at home rather than in a medical facility.
